SC allows Srinivasan to continue as BCCI president

The Supreme Court has delayed the hearing of the case filed by Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) to October 7th and has allowed the incumbent president to continue as the chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It has however stated that Srinivasan will not be allowed to discharge any of his duties as the president of the BCCI until further orders.

While asking BCCI and Cricket Association of Bihar to sort out scope and nature of committee to probe IPL spot fixing, the highest court of India has also barred Srinivasan from participating in any decision making with regards to the Indian Premier League.

Expressing concern over the way the BCCI has been run, the apex court slammed the administrative body in charge of the game in India. It said: "Fact is so many things are coming out of IPL and BCCI, something is seriously wrong with the apex body controlling cricket."

Assuring that Srinivasan will keep himself away from any matter related to the IPL, the BCCI's lawyer also told the court that a panel has been set up under Arun Jaitley and Vivek Gupta to oversee the probe into the IPL scandal. The petitioners, Cricket Association of Bihar wanted the court to make sure that the probe is conducted by persons who were not connected to the BCCI.
